You can know the salary structure of these pay bands as per 7th CPC and latest rate of allowances.
In 5200-20200 Pay Scale, 5200 is the starting basic pay while 20200 is the last basic pay for a post. Similarly, In 9300-34800 Scale, the starting basic pay is 9300 and last basic pay is 34800. Various allowances are calculated on this basic pay and added to it to come at total salary.

MA stands for Miscellaneous allowances (MA)  includes travel allowance (TA (3600 for Class X and 1800 for Class Y/Z cities), phone allowance, shift allowance etc.

  • Current Dearness Allowance: 42% (applicable from January 2023)
  • HRA: 27% for Class X City, 18% for Class Y city, 9% for Class Z city.
  • Deductions (PPF etc.): 10% for NPS, remaining taxes if applicable

Note: In 6th Pay Commission system, Grade pay was given and shown separately while in 7th Pay Commission, there is no grade pay and it is merged in the scales.

Salary Calculation is done using the formula below.
Total Salary: Entry Pay (Basic pay) of the Post + DA (42% of basic Pay) + HRA (27% for Metro city, 18% for Class Y city + 9% for Class Z city) + Other allowances as admissible
