RRB JE Syllabus 2022 1st 2nd CBT Exam Pattern with PDF

Railway Recruitment Boards conducts various recruitment every year. The selection of the candidates in RRBs is a single stage process comprise of only written examination. This year, Junior Engineer group exam was conducted in April / May 2019. The test is held for Junior engineer Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Automobile, Communication, Maintenance, Industrial, IT. Printing Press posts. In order to obtain better marks and qualify the test easily, candidates need to prepare according to latest pattern and syllabus of RRB JE written exam. Candidates can check them in detail from here.
Latest News:
There will be two computer based tests in place of one i.e. 1st Stage CBT and 2nd Stage CBT. Both will have objective type questions. The detailed syllabus of both CBT is given below.

1st Stage CBT Exam Pattern

The 1st CBT will have 100 questions carrying 100 marks and time limit of 90 minutes. Questions in this section are to be asked from following.

Railway JE 1st CBT Syllabus 2022

a. Mathematics :
Number systems, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM and HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and
Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary
Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.
b. General Intelligence and Reasoning :
Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jum
-bling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences,
Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
c. General Awareness :
Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and
constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and
technological developments etc.
d. General Science :
Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences (up to 10th Standard CBSE syllabus).Candidates will be shortlisted for 2nd stage CBT after normalizing the scores in 1st CBT. Total 15 times the vacancies candidates will be called for 2nd CBT.

2nd CBT Exam Pattern

Railway Recruitment Board Junior Engineer written examination is Objective type having 150 questions. The 2nd CBT will have 150 questions carrying 150 marks. The duration of this paper is 2 hours (160 minutes for PwBD). Here is detailed 2nd CBT Junior Engineer Syllabus of RRB.

RRB JE 2nd CBT Syllabus 2022

a) General Awareness (15 marks) : Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.b) Physics and Chemistry (15 marks): Up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus.

c) Basics of Computers and Applications (10 marks): Architecture of Computers; input and Output devices; Storage devices, Networking, Operating System like Windows, Unix, Linux; MS Office; Various data representation; Internet and Email; Websites & Web Browsers; Computer Virus.

d) Basics of Environment and Pollution Control (10 marks): Basics of Environment; Adverse effect of environmental pollution and control strategies; Air, water and Noise pollution, their effect and control; Waste Management, Global warming; Acid rain; Ozone depletion.

e) Technical Abilities (100 marks): The educational qualifications mentioned against each post, have been grouped into different exam groups as below. The syllabus of technical abilities can be downloaded through the pdf at link given below.

This is the syllabus of RRB JE exam with pdf. All sections / subjects syllabus is listed on this page and technical abilities section syllabus is given in pdf at above link.

The syllabus for General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control is common for all notified posts.

Candidates will be able to check Virtual calculator on the Computer Monitor during 2nd Stage CBT.

Please note that General Science of 1st CBT and Physics and Chemistry of 2nd CBT will have questions up to 10th Standard CBSE syllabus.

Negative marking – 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers given by a candidate.

Minimum Qualifying marks in 1st and 2nd CBT:

  • UR -40%
  • OBC-30%
  • SC-30%
  • ST -25%.

These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
