UPPSC PCS Salary and Pay Scale of Officer posts

 

Positions and posting:

A PCS officer can be posted at various posts of sub-divisional, district, divisional and state level. After training, candidate usually gets placed as Sub Divisional Magistrate-cum-Deputy Collector (SDMs).

After few years of service, they are given promotion to City Magistrate >> Additional District Magistrate-cum-Additional Collector >> Chief development officer (CDO).

On divisional level, they gets posted as additional divisional commissioners while at state secretariat, they are posted as deputy secretaries, joint secretary, special secretary to the Uttar Pradesh government.

In municipal corporations, they serve as municipal commissioners and additional municipal commissioners while In development authorities, they serve as secretaries and as vice chairmen.

They can also gets posting as deputy CEOs and additional CEOs in various authorities as well as Additional Directors, Directors and Chief General Manager, additional/joint MD, Managing Directors in various PSUs of UP Govt.

After completion of 20 years of service (Pay level 14) and reaching up to Special Secretary Grade level, a directly recruited PCS officer get promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer, after confirmation by the DOPT of Government of India and UPSC.

Those who don’t get promotion to IAS officer, are given pay level 15 (Higher administrative grade), and classification as ‘superseded’.

Half of these posts are filled through direct recruitment through annual competitive examination conducted by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. Direct recruitment candidates gets placed at Deputy Collector rank. Half of these posts are filled by promotion from Uttar Pradesh Lower Provincial Civil Service (Tehsildar cadre).
