HCS (Ex. Br.) Pay Structure and Increment / Promotion

New officer is given salary as per Pay Scale Rs. 15600-39100 Grade Pay 5600 FPL-10 (Rs. 56100 starting basic pay).
After 5 years of regular satisfactory service, they are given salary as per Pay Scale Rs. 15600-39100 Grade Pay 6000 ACPL-13 (Rs. 65700 basic pay) Senior Scale.
After 10 years of regular satisfactory service (limited to 30% of cadre posts), they are given salary as per Pay Scale Rs. 15600-39100 Grade Pay 7600 ACPL-16 (Rs. 78800 basic pay) Selection grade.
After 15 years of regular satisfactory service (limited to 20% of cadre posts), they are given salary as per Pay Scale Rs. 36400-67000 Grade Pay 8700 ACPL-18 (Rs. 118500 basic pay) Super time Scale.

HPSC conducts HCS Exam mostly every year. Selection of candidates is done through Preliminary and Main exam along with interview. Preliminary exam is an objective type exam that consist of two papers. First paper is of General Studies while second paper is of CSAT. Those who qualify Pre exam, have to appear for Main exam. Those who qualify all three stages of recruitment, gets selected for the posts.
